Clarisonic Mia 2 – REVIEW

IMG_0972IMG_0973

So my discovery of the Clarisonic came from finding them in cleansing routines on Youtube and found that this was used in quite a few peoples routines. For your information I actually live in the UK and the Clarisonic was not in any shops therefore I’d never seen or heard anything about this before. The more I saw it the more curious I became so I started to look into it and after reading reviews about it I started to become very interested.

A month or two after the discovery I went to Dubai for my birthday and found it in a Sephora in a shopping mall over there so I decided to take the plunge and make the purchase. It took me a whole day to decide whether to buy it or not as it doesn’t exactly come cheap but after everything I read I decided I wanted it and knew I’d regret it once  I got back to the UK if I didn’t buy it.

This was bought in September 2015 and I have used it every day since, I take it with me when I go away, stop away for a night, no matter what, it comes with me and it has been a god send. It removes all make up leaving skin cleansed and the bristles are soft against the skin.

I purchased the deep pore cleansing collection range as a part of my Clarisonic which came with the following:

  • Deep Pore Cleanser
  • Deep Pore congestion clay mask
  • A case and cover that it is stored in to keep safe which can be seen in the photos
  • Magnetic charger

Magnetic charger explained – As you can see on the photos there is no holes where a charger can be plugged in, this is because the magnetic charger attaches itself to the front of the handle to charge up, the reason for this is with it being a cleansing electronic device it would be unsafe to have ‘exposed’ ports. This amazing feature makes the device waterproof

Overall, I love my Clarisonic, it has interchangeable heads so you can purchase different type heads and put new ones on every few months to stay fully cleansed, the battery lasts a while, it has it’s own case for travel and storage purposes and lastly cleanses my skin thoroughly!

For those of you who in live in England or somewhere this is not sold, it can now be ordered on Boots website now, which they started doing a few months after coming back from Dubai. It honestly is worth the money, they have a variety of brush heads, I use the ‘Sensitive’ skin brush heads but only because the less abrasion against my skin the better. I do moisturise every morning and evening so I am restoring the nutrients in my skin as well.

This was money well spent and skin well looked after!

Another note as well that I want to point out, you can get a variety of different brush heads for the clarisonic as it is interchangeable. There are brushes to suit all skin types, as well as brushes for body exfoliation depending on what you want to use it for. It is recommended to change the brush head once every 3 months. I use the Deep pore brush head as shown below as it is best for minimising pores and best for oily skin.

MAC – Fix+ and Pro Longwear Foundation – REVIEW

IMG_0905

Like with my previous post I am going to be doing a  2 in 1 review on MAC’s Fix+ and Pro Longwear foundation. Again, the reason for the 2 in 1 review is the fact that I have only ever used these products together, therefore I feel as though the best way I can review truthfully is to review them in this one post.

So we’ll start with the base of the 2 products – MAC Prep & Prime Fix+

A soothing moisture mist that refreshes the skin and finishes make up.

I have to say the first thing I noticed/read on the packaging with this product that I LOVE is that you have the option of being able to use it before OR after you’ve applied your make up. For me, I use this before applying my make up. The reason for this is I feel as though it is a little bit too wet for me to apply after make up and with me having oily skin as it is I didn’t want an over-duey look!

I feel as though that using this before applying my foundation is priming my skin and does actually give me the perfect glow that I want from my finished make up look. I wouldn’t use this as my one and only primer though, to me this mainly improves the finished look of my foundation so I would not recommend this product if you were to use it primarily as a primer. Hence the name ‘Fix +’

2nd part to this review being the Pro-longwear foundation:

A creamy foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition.

I am surprisingly impressed with this foundation as I had heard such a mixture of reviews about it myself. I was previously wearing the Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation which was extremely good when it came to lasting all day with good coverage but as my skin was getting better, the foundation was too cakey so I wanted something more lightweight but still providing good coverage that lasted. So this was when I decided to break my MAC virginity and take the plunge in ordering this foundation.

Can I just mention, I bought this foundation on the MAC website, now this is considerably brave when you think about the price it cost and never owning a MAC product in my life and so therefore didn’t even have the slightest clue at what shade I would be!

LUCKILY, there are websites out there that help with this! If you want to know the 2 websites I used to help pick my shade then let me know because these websites came to the conclusion I would be shade NC15 in this foundation after asking just a few questions about my skin and to my surprise THEY WERE WERE RIGHT! This is the perfect shade for my skin and my risk paid out which will probably never happen this well again. Not to mention there is a variety of shades to choose from.

The foundation itself is lightweight and creamy when applying. Now a few people have mentioned that it dries quickly and to move fast, this is not the case for me at all, I don’t know if that’s because I moisturise and prime right before applying foundation or whether it just depends on skin type. I also found that I had to wait for it to dry for a few minutes otherwise it was slghtly sticky to the touch – again other people have mentioned quite a bit that it was quite the opposite but not for me!

I loved the coverage on this foundation. If you read my previous post you would know I have acne/scarring and red areas – all of which were covered with a layer of this foundation without the need of a concealer. I build up the cover with 2 layers depending on how my skin is on a day to day basis but a majority of the time 1 layer does it!

I found as well that after applying this foundation and the rest of my make up I did not look cakey at all! Which was the look I was trying to get away from as mentioned previously. Good coverage with 1 layer of creamy foundation is exactly what I look for in a foundation!

There is also no smell to this foundation. I’ve read that some of the MAC foundations smell like paint, luckily this is not one of those foundations. I would say this foundation is best for combination skin, if you have very dry skin I don’t believe this would give you the dewy look you would be after and for really oily skin people I believe you’d get away with it but it may not last as long as you’d want. I have almost completely oily skin apart from my cheeks and it only starts to look too oily after 10 hours on a humid day. Also I found that close up sometimes this foundation may have had it’s flaws but on camera, no matter what my skin looked FLAWLESS!

I am aware this may have been too long winded but I never expected myself to have so much to say about it!

Overall, I would recommend this foundation to a majority of you as well as the Prep & Prime Fix+. For a photo of me with the finished look after using this foundation as my base, just let me know and I’ll post one below.

There is only 1 negative to this foundation for me which has been a regular issue with this foundation. As you are aware, I have acne prone skin and unfortunately this foundation did make my skin break out and in places that I would never usually break out either. I am yet to see if this was just the fact that my skin was getting to a new foundation or whether it was unrelated etc, however for me the positives definitely weighed out this negative and this is still going to be one of my favourite foundations!

Elemis Tri-Enzyme Collection – REVIEW

IMG_0854

So I’ve decided to do this review as a 2 parter – the reason being is I bought these 3 products as part of a collection and have always used these products as a collection… I will be reviewing the Facial Wash and Night Cream on this post.

I was like many of you out there, wanted to do the absolute minimum to get amazing results. Some of you out there are lucky enough to get away with this, unfortunately this is not the case with me.

Little background on my skin time –

  • oily/combination skin
  • acne prone
  • redness
  • acne scarring that won’t budge

So with this in mind, I’m going to begin…

IMG_0959

First things 1st, is the Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash which states

As part of the Elemis Anti-aging Resurfacing Programme, this daily face wash stimulates the skin’s natural cell renewal cycle, actively smoothing and refining whilst sloughing away dead skin cells which dull the complexion.

What this means is that rather than you having to wait for your skin to re-produce skins cells as its own pace, the facial wash is speeding up that process of skin renewal but in a natural way.

REMEMBER – everyone’s skin cells re-produce at different speed levels

I was recommended this product due to the acne prone skin and acne scarring that I have. I was told that tri-enzyme products will help the reproduction of new skins cells as the acne scarring is just skin cells that have not yet been re-produced. Baring in mind that acne scars can be a good few skin layers deep and can vary on how deep depending on how bad the acne was.

IMG_0961

The 2nd part of my collection being the Tri-Enzyme resurfacing night cream.

Very similar to the resurfacing facial wash it states:

As part of Elemis Anti-Ageing Resurfacing programme, this nightly treatment stimulates the skin’s natural cell renewal cycle, actively smoothing and enhancing the skin whilst cellular respiration is at it’s optimum.

They say that the skin is renewing it’s skin cells more rapidly through the night whilst you’re asleep. There are many reasons as to why scientists believe this which I won’t go in to but Elemis decided to make the most of this by producing this cream as one of the Tr-Enzyme products they hold.

MY THOUGHTS:

Now I decided to share my thoughts overall on these 2 products as they are mainly used in conjunction together. The facial wash I use morning and night and I have to say just using the facial wash alone in the morning is refreshing, cleansing and I do not feel as though I am damaging my skin like you do with some facial washes. The cream I am obviously using at night, it is extremely moisturising without being greasy or sticky, smells lovely and makes me feel pampered.

Pro’s:

  • BIGGEST PRO – I am flabbergasted at the results, that’s right flabbgergasted! My scarring has reduced significantly and in some areas of my face completely gone! I am still amazed at these products and they results they have had. Everyone has noticed how good my skin is and has made me so confident.
  • It is not a massively extensive process to get the skin I’ve been waiting for. It’s 2 simple steps that take a few minutes together.
  • The products aren’t stinky. The night cream in my opinion has a slightly better smell and neither products are extremely strong in smell so you’re not passing out at the smell of your own face (always a bonus).
  • The products last a long while. I’ve had these products about a month now, I’ve already seen results and as you can see by the photo of the facial wash there is still quite a bit left. Not to mention the night cream (a little goes a long way and you can barely tell it’s been used).
  • This collection came with a lovely little Elemis bag/case for storing the products which has enough space for more products to be stored also,

Con’s:

  • These products are unfortunately pricey. Therefore, it is worth waiting for special offers or gift sets to come out, especially with the night cream. This is the only Con that I can personally find and it can be considered quite a big one but if you’re someone like me and just wanted something that would help you no matter what the cost then you may be able to overcome costs.

I’ll be honest, I did not have 100% faith when I started using these products due to the amount of products I had tried but hand on heart never thought I’d say this but the products have been worth every penny!

If you want to see a review on the Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Gel Mask pictured in the first photo then please let me know! Hope this helped you out.
